Painting Under The Tuscan Sun
With Lori McNee
October 15 - 21, 2017
Immerse yourself in the beautiful Italian countryside for a week of plein air painting under the Tuscan sun in Lucca, Italy. Students will discover how to observe, study, and interpret the light, color, texture and rhythm of the rich Tuscan landscape.
Lori will guide you through simplified steps to paint a believable landscape. Each day you will focus on the fundamentals of design, value, edges, color mixing and harmony, as well as brushwork. These fundamentals are as valuable in the studio as they are on location, and plein air painting is a wonderful discipline that will also improve your studio painting skills.
With plenty of one-on-one attention, Lori will help you discover how to cultivate familiar and habitual techniques while allowing room for your own artistic inspiration and individuality. You will not be taught a formula, but rather an approach that will help you create your own successful paintings. The objective of this workshop is to have fun, relax, come with an open mind, and a willingness to try new things.
Traditional oil painters, watermixable oil painters, and open acrylic painters of all skill levels are welcome. Lori is a trained master artist in watermixable, solvent-free oils, so this would be a great opportunity to learn to use them. Watermixable, solvent-free oils clean up with soap and water and are especially perfect for overseas travels.
As a bonus one evening, Lori will be offering her world-famous social media, blogging, and art marketing advice to interested students.
Location & accommodation
The location for this workshop is Casa Berti, a 17th Century Tuscan estate 14km from the beautiful Renaissance city of Lucca. You can choose between a large private room with private bathroom, or twin share accommodation with one bathroom per two guests. See images of Casa Berti and learn more about the location here.
Five days of tuition, 6 nights accommodation, transfers on the first and last day of the workshop, and meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner and wine).

You are welcome to bring a partner or friend who is not participating in the course. Rates for non-participating partners include accommodation, transfers and all meals, and we will gladly assist in planning activities for your partner during the days while you are participating in the workshop.
